The Bible:

WHY MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

Does it really matter if I’m a member or not? Why do I have to take a class to even become a member? Why do I have to sign anything? People often ask these questions about our membership process, skeptical as to why there seem to be so many “hoops” to jump through.

It’s true. We take membership seriously and with a lot of gravity. committing yourself to a body of believers is weighty. But it’s also wonderful. When members join, they commit to a spiritual family that provides encouragement and support. They are called to a biblical degree of responsibility, service and sacrifice to their brothers and sisters. Our elders and leaders also pledge to assist our members with care, counsel, prayer and teaching.

Membership Class

As you think about making a decision to join the church, we offer a class that covers what it means to be a member, as well as our mission, basic beliefs and theological distinctives. We want you to know exactly what it means to join and what is required when you do before asking you to make a decision. There are three steps to becoming a member

BAPTISM:

Baptism is intended only for those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ and can give sufficient testimony to the basics of Christian beliefs. We baptize by immersion because it is not only the original significance of the word but also best symbolizes the reality to which baptism points—our death and resurrection in Christ.

If you have not been baptized following salvation, we ask you to take this step before becoming a member. To help prepare you, we offer a baptism class. The class covers the biblical significance of baptism, frequently asked questions and gives you an opportunity to share your testimony.

REQUIRED READING:

We require prospective members to read Church Membership Consents before signing the membership covenants. These forms are handed out after church service. It explains what membership is and why it’s important to commit to a local body of believers.

SIGNING THE FORMS:

The final step in becoming a member is to meet with your membership table leader to sign the membership covenant.

We will explain the covenant, listen to your testimony and answer any questions you might have. Once you fulfill the requirements of membership and sign the covenant, you are considered a member.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

(preparing and sending out emerging leaders)

We exist to build and grow relationships between God and Man through Jesus Christ.

This is our mission and process for discipleship. Out of this, gospel-centered multiplication is the result of discipleship, replicating Christ in others. One of the ways we pursue and live out this discipleship trait is through our Outreach Program. Through the program, we prepare and send out missionaries and church planters to be effective messengers of reconciliation in a variety of contexts.

MISSIONARIES AND CHURCH PLANTERS.

The Outreach Program is a four-stage process for both individuals pursuing the missionary and church planter track. It includes:

Exploring God’s call on your life
Preparing for the field
Immersion in hands-on ministry
Official commission and sending by Eagles of Faith Ministry.

Missionaries generally commit to one year in the Outreach Program, while church planters commit to at least two years. The training process includes a self-directed plan toward personal development, as well as training together as cohorts.

WEDDING AND FUNERALS

Weddings

We are so excited to serve you during the process of marriage and wedding planning. We offer many resources to help you plan and execute your rehearsal and wedding.

Though the culture has evolving definitions of marriage, we believe that it is God alone who has the ultimate authority to prescribe and describe the marital relationship (Gen. 2:24; Matt. 19:1-9; Mark 10:1-12). Because of this understanding, we will only recognize marriages that meet the biblical definition: a covenant relationship between one gender-normative man and one gender-normative woman. The pastors, ministers and staff of Eagles of Faith Ministry will only participate in weddings and officiate marriages that meet this definition, and the facilities and property of Eagles of Fath Ministry will only host marriage ceremonies that meet this definition.

DEPOSITS AND FEES

The fee is R700, including a refundable R50 deposit. An additional R150 fee is charged to remove the drum set from the stage. (pending)

HOLIDAYS AND WEDDINGS

Weddings and rehearsals may not be scheduled on Easter weekend, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, the day and week following Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

SCHEDULING AND WEDDING

Complete the scheduling form to indicate the day you want to have your wedding. You cannot schedule a wedding more than one year ahead of time and no less than five months from your desired date. Our wedding coordinator will contact you to confirm availability. Confirmation does not guarantee the date for your wedding. The date will only be held when we receive the wedding application and R50 deposit.
Once we confirm your desired date, complete the Wedding Application. You will receive an email confirming that we received your application and booked your date. Then the wedding coordinator will set up a meeting to discuss the church's policies.
All couples must complete an approved premarital counseling course before marriage. Bring a copy of your course completion certificate to your meeting with the wedding coordinator.
One month prior to your wedding, our coordinator will meet with you to discuss final details, including ceremony specifics, decorations and production needs. The remaining R650 is due at this meeting.

REQUEST A PASTOR:

If you want a pastor from Eagles of Faith Ministry to officiate your wedding, complete and submit the Wedding Application.
You cannot schedule a pastor from Eagles of Faith Ministry to perform your ceremony more than 1 year ahead of time and must request one no later than 5 months from your wedding date.
All couples being married by a pastor from Eagles of Faith Ministry must complete an approved premarital counseling course before marriage.

FUNERALS

As our desire to serve and assist you in times of loss, we make our facilities available for funerals, but availability is limited. Only certain days and times of the week are open, and those times often change week to week. Biblical Counseling

When special circumstances require help beyond Home Groups and Recovery Groups, the primary places that we work out care and counseling, we partner with professional biblical counselors in meeting the emotional and spiritual needs of the church. Premarital Counseling

Marriage was created by God for the display of His glory and for the joy of His creatures. Through this gift, we are called to consider not only God’s covenantal love but also His incredible patience and unconditional mercy toward His beloved. Because this takes effort and intentionality, we strongly encourage engaged couples to supplement their marriage preparation through formal premarital counseling.
